The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL HT-13750-8-P-I is a high-speed steel (HSS) hand plug tap sized 1-3/8 inch diameter with 8 threads per inch (TPI). A plug tap features a tapered lead of 3 to 5 threads, making it the standard starting tap for most through-hole and deeper blind-hole threading applications. It is used by machinists, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians to cut internal threads by hand in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The HSS construction provides adequate hardness and wear resistance for general-purpose tapping in steel, cast iron, and aluminum.
This tap is suited for heavy industrial and maintenance applications where large-diameter coarse-thread fasteners are required. The 1-3/8-8 thread profile is common in structural assemblies, heavy equipment, and large-diameter pipe and flange work. It is designed for hand tapping operations using a standard tap wrench, and the plug chamfer makes it appropriate for most production and repair threading scenarios where a starting taper is available or a bottoming tap is not required.
Designed as a standard hand plug tap for use in any application requiring 1-3/8-8 UNC internal threads, compatible with standard tap wrenches sized for large-diameter taps.
This tap is installed by hand using an appropriately sized tap wrench. Ensure the workpiece is securely clamped and the tap is started square to the hole to prevent thread damage or tap breakage. Apply cutting fluid throughout the tapping process to reduce heat and extend tool life. Follow standard machining safety practices and wear appropriate eye protection when tapping.
