The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL HT-13750-8-B-I is a high-speed steel (HSS) hand bottom tap sized at 1-3/8 inches with an 8 threads-per-inch (TPI) pitch. Bottom taps are ground with minimal chamfer on the leading threads, allowing them to cut threads to the bottom of a blind hole where plug or taper taps cannot fully reach. This tap is driven by hand using a tap wrench and is suited for threading operations in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and similar materials. Machinists, pipefitters, millwrights, and maintenance technicians reach for this style of tap when a threaded hole must be fully usable to its deepest point.
This tap is used in machine shops, maintenance facilities, and fabrication environments where blind-hole threading at the 1-3/8 inch diameter and 8 TPI specification is required. Typical applications include repair threading of worn or damaged holes, new threading in plate stock, and production work where a full-depth thread in a stopped bore is specified. The coarse 8 TPI pitch suits heavy stock removal in tough materials and is common in structural and industrial fastener applications.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard replacement hand bottom tap for use wherever a 1-3/8 inch 8 TPI hand tap is specified.
This tap is intended for use with a properly sized tap wrench by a qualified machinist or tradesperson. Always use cutting fluid appropriate to the workpiece material to extend tap life and reduce the risk of breakage. Ensure the hole is drilled to the correct tap drill diameter before threading. Apply steady, even torque and back off periodically to break chips and prevent binding.
