The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL HT-13750-6-B-I is a high-speed steel (HSS) hand bottom tap sized 1-3/8 inches in diameter with a 6 threads-per-inch (TPI) thread pitch. Bottom taps are ground with minimal chamfer on the leading threads, allowing them to cut usable threads as close to the bottom of a blind hole as possible. At 0.31 pounds, this is a hand-driven tap intended for use with a tap wrench rather than a machine holder. It is well suited for threading repair work, production threading in soft to medium-hardness materials, and job-site tapping where a bottoming thread is required in a stopped bore.
This tap is used in applications where full thread engagement is needed near the base of a blind hole and a plug or taper tap has already been used to start the thread. Typical applications include threading holes in steel, cast iron, aluminum, brass, and similar materials in mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and general fabrication trades. The 1-3/8-6 UNC thread form is common in heavy fastener and structural connection work. This is an import-grade tap suited for general service use.
Designed as a hand bottom tap for cutting 1-3/8-6 UNC threads in blind or through holes across a range of metals and materials where a bottoming thread form is required.
This tap is intended for use with a properly sized tap wrench by a machinist, pipefitter, HVAC technician, or fabricator. Always use cutting fluid appropriate for the material being threaded to extend tool life and improve thread quality. Ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured before starting. When threading a blind hole, use a taper or plug tap first to establish the thread, then follow with this bottom tap to extend threads to the required depth.
