The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL HT-11250-8-P-I is a high-speed steel hand plug tap designed for cutting internal threads in metal workpieces. Sized at 1-1/8 inch diameter with 8 threads per inch (TPI), this plug tap features a chamfer of approximately 3 to 5 threads at the lead end, making it suited for through-hole and open-ended blind-hole tapping operations. The plug chamfer provides a balance between the ease of starting found on taper taps and the thread depth achievable with bottoming taps. It is intended for use with a hand tap wrench or tapping head and is commonly used by machinists, pipefitters, and maintenance professionals working in fabrication and repair applications.
This tap is appropriate for general-purpose threading in ferrous and non-ferrous metals where a 1-1/8 inch-8 UNC thread form is required. Typical applications include heavy equipment repair, structural fabrication, and industrial maintenance work where large-diameter coarse-pitch threaded holes are needed. The HSS construction handles standard cutting operations in mild steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials without the added cost of coated or carbide tooling.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and general-purpose hand tap for use wherever a 1-1/8 inch-8 UNC internal thread is required. Fits standard square-shank tap wrench drives appropriate for this tap size.
This tap is installed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians using a properly sized hand tap wrench. Before tapping, ensure the pilot hole is drilled to the correct tap drill diameter for a 1-1/8-8 thread and that the workpiece is securely fixtured. Apply cutting fluid throughout the operation and periodically back off the tap to break chips and prevent binding. Do not force the tap if resistance increases sharply, as HSS taps can fracture under excessive torque.
