The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL HT-11250-7-P-I is a high-speed steel (HSS) hand plug tap designed to cut 1-1/8 inch diameter threads at 7 threads per inch (TPI). The plug chamfer geometry — typically 3 to 5 threads of lead — allows the tap to start easily in a pre-drilled hole and cut full-form internal threads through the majority of its fluted length. It is operated by hand with a standard tap wrench and is suited for threading steel, cast iron, aluminum, and similar materials in maintenance, fabrication, and mechanical assembly work.
This tap is used wherever a 1-1/8-7 UNC internal thread is required. Typical applications include threading fastener holes in structural steel fabrication, machine component repair, and heavy equipment maintenance. The 1-1/8-7 thread size is a coarse-thread Unified National Coarse (UNC) designation, commonly found in large-diameter bolted connections. Machinists, millwrights, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians are the primary users of this tap size in both shop and field settings.
Designed as a hand plug tap for cutting 1-1/8-7 UNC internal threads in pre-drilled holes sized to the appropriate tap drill diameter for this thread specification.
This tap is installed using a standard tap wrench sized for the tap square. Secure the workpiece before tapping and ensure the pilot hole is drilled to the correct tap drill diameter for a 1-1/8-7 thread. Apply cutting fluid appropriate for the workpiece material to extend tool life and improve thread finish. Back the tap off periodically to break chips and prevent tap breakage, particularly in blind holes.
