The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL HT-11250-7-B-I is a 1-1/8 inch diameter, 7 TPI high-speed steel (HSS) hand bottom tap designed for cutting full threads to the bottom of blind holes. The bottom chamfer geometry leaves only 1 to 2 incomplete threads at the entry, making it the correct tap to reach thread depth in a stopped bore after a taper or plug tap has started the thread. This tap is manufactured from HSS for adequate hardness and wear resistance across common ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and pipefitters reach for a bottom tap when thread engagement must extend as close to the base of a blind hole as possible.
This tap is suited for manual hand-tapping operations in job shop, maintenance and repair, and field service environments. The 1-1/8 inch-7 UNC thread form is a coarse-pitch unified national thread commonly found in structural fastener applications, heavy equipment frames, and large-diameter mechanical assemblies. It is used wherever a through-hole is not practical and maximum thread engagement in a blind bore is required. The import designation reflects country of origin outside the United States, making it a cost-effective option for applications where production volume or budget constraints favor value-grade tooling.
Designed as a standard UNC hand bottom tap for use in any application requiring a 1-1/8 inch-7 thread in a blind hole. No specific OEM or equipment compatibility was provided in the product data.
Bottom taps should always be used as the final step in a three-tap sequence (taper, plug, bottom) when threading blind holes by hand. Secure the workpiece firmly and apply appropriate cutting fluid for the material being tapped to reduce friction and extend tap life. Apply steady, even torque with a properly sized tap wrench and back off the tap periodically to break chips and prevent binding. Do not force the tap against the bottom of the hole, as this can cause breakage.
