The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL HT-1024-B-D is a high-speed steel (HSS) hand bottom tap sized for 10-24 UNC threads. Bottom taps are ground with minimal lead chamfer, allowing threads to be cut to the bottom of blind holes where plug or taper taps cannot reach. This tap is manufactured in the USA and is intended for hand-tapping operations in machine shops, maintenance environments, and field repair work. It is a standard tool for machinists, millwrights, and maintenance technicians who need full-depth threads in blind holes across a range of materials.
This tap is suited for threading blind holes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics, and similar materials where 10-24 UNC threads are required. It is commonly used in production tapping, repair work, and prototype fabrication when complete thread engagement to the bottom of a hole is necessary. The 10-24 thread designation is widely used in light mechanical assemblies, instrumentation, and electrical enclosure hardware.
Designed as a standard 10-24 UNC hand bottom tap for use with tap wrenches and T-handle drivers sized for this tap shank. Compatible with pilot holes drilled to the standard tap drill size for 10-24 UNC threads.
Secure the workpiece firmly before tapping. Use a calibrated tap wrench to maintain straight, aligned entry into the pilot hole. Apply appropriate cutting fluid for the workpiece material to reduce heat and extend tool life. Periodically back off the tap during threading to break chips and prevent binding in blind holes.
