The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL CHD-30000-12-I is a carbon steel hex rethread die designed to restore damaged or corroded external threads on fasteners and fittings. Built in a standard hex body profile, it seats securely in a common die stock or wrench for controlled hand operation. The die covers a thread range from 3 to 12, making it a practical shop and field tool for plumbers, pipefitters, electricians, and general mechanical trades who encounter thread damage on threaded rod, bolts, and pipe fittings during installation or maintenance work.
This rethread die is suited for both residential and light commercial service applications where restoring thread integrity on existing fasteners is faster than full replacement. Typical use cases include repair of corroded bolt threads on mechanical equipment, restoration of fitting threads on conduit and piping assemblies, and general thread cleanup during panel, equipment, or fixture service calls. Its hex body allows for easy drive with a standard adjustable wrench or die stock handle without specialized tooling.
Designed as a general-purpose hex rethread die compatible with standard die stocks and wrenches sized for hex body dies across the 3 to 12 thread range.
Rethread dies are typically used by licensed tradespeople during mechanical, plumbing, or electrical service work. Before rethreading any fastener or fitting on energized equipment, de-energize and lock out the circuit per applicable NFPA 70E or site safety procedures, and shut off fluid supply lines where applicable. Apply cutting oil or thread lubricant to the die and workpiece to reduce friction and extend die life. Do not force the die past resistance — back off periodically to clear chips and prevent die damage.
