The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL C1080-037-D is a cobalt steel screw machine (stub) length drill bit sized at 37/64 inch with a 1/2 inch reduced shank. Cobalt construction provides increased heat resistance and hardness compared to standard high-speed steel, making it well suited for drilling through stainless steel, cast iron, hard alloys, and other tough ferrous materials encountered in trade and industrial applications. The stub-length body offers added rigidity and reduced deflection, which is an advantage when starting holes without a center punch or when working in tight clearances. This bit is manufactured in the USA.
This drill bit is used across mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC trade work wherever 37/64 inch holes are required in hard or abrasive base materials. Typical applications include drilling through structural steel, heavy-gauge sheet metal, pipe flanges, and equipment frames. The 1/2 inch shank fits standard 1/2 inch drill chucks, making it compatible with common corded and cordless drills and drill presses found on job sites and in shops.
Designed for use in standard 1/2 inch keyed or keyless drill chucks on corded drills, cordless drills, and drill presses requiring a 37/64 inch cobalt stub-length drill bit.
Secure the shank firmly in the drill chuck before operation and verify the chuck key is removed prior to powering the tool. Use appropriate cutting fluid or coolant when drilling hard ferrous metals to extend bit life and reduce heat buildup. Always wear eye protection and secure the workpiece before drilling. Dispose of worn bits in accordance with applicable shop safety and waste disposal practices.
