The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL A712-112-I is a high-speed steel (HSS) aircraft-length drill bit with a 12-inch overall length (OAL). Designed for extended reach in deep-hole drilling applications, this bit cuts through metal, aluminum, and other materials common in mechanical and fabrication work. The aircraft-length design allows access to drilling locations that standard jobber-length bits cannot reach. At 0.13 pounds, it is lightweight enough for handheld power tool use without adding fatigue over extended jobs. Machinists, HVAC technicians, pipefitters, and maintenance mechanics routinely reach for aircraft-length bits when working inside cabinets, panels, or structural assemblies where clearance is limited.
This drill bit is suited for use in residential and commercial maintenance, light fabrication, and mechanical installation work. The extended OAL makes it particularly useful when drilling through ductwork, electrical enclosures, structural panels, or any assembly where a standard-length bit lacks the reach to complete the bore. It is compatible with standard drill chucks on corded and cordless power tools and drill presses.
Designed as a standard aircraft-length HSS drill bit suitable for use with conventional drill chucks on corded and cordless power tools and stationary drill presses across trade and fabrication applications.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists, mechanics, or trade professionals familiar with metal drilling procedures. Secure the workpiece before drilling and ensure the bit is fully seated and tightened in the chuck before operation. Wear appropriate eye protection and follow applicable workplace safety standards when drilling metal. Inspect the bit for wear or damage before each use and replace if the cutting edges show signs of deterioration.
