The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL A700-024-I is a high-speed steel (HSS) aircraft-length drill bit sized at 3/8 inch diameter with a 6-inch overall length (OAL). The extended reach of this drill is designed for applications where a standard-length bit cannot access the work area, such as drilling through structural members, deep cavities, or layered assemblies. HSS construction provides adequate hardness and heat resistance for drilling into mild steel, aluminum, wood, and similar materials. This bit is suited for use by aviation maintenance technicians, sheet metal workers, electricians, and general fabricators who require extended reach in confined or deep-bore situations.
Aircraft-length drill bits are commonly specified when standard-length bits lack the reach to complete a through-hole in structural panels, framing members, or stacked materials. This 3/8-inch diameter size is frequently used for conduit knockouts, fastener clearance holes, and access holes in sheet metal and light structural work. The 6-inch OAL provides additional clearance between the drill chuck and the workpiece surface, reducing interference during drilling operations in tight spaces.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use aircraft-length drill bit compatible with any standard 3/8-inch drill chuck, handheld power drill, or drill press accepting straight-shank bits.
Aircraft-length drill bits should be installed by securing the straight shank firmly in a keyed or keyless chuck before operation. Secure the workpiece to prevent movement during drilling. Use appropriate cutting fluid when drilling metal to extend bit life and reduce heat buildup. Inspect the cutting edges for wear or damage before each use, and replace the bit if the cutting edges are dull or chipped to avoid workpiece damage or bit breakage.
