The EAGLE CUTTING TOOL 1090-109-I is a High Speed Steel (HSS) Silver and Deming drill bit with a 1-9/64 inch cutting diameter and a 1/2 inch reduced shank. Silver and Deming bits are engineered to drill oversized holes beyond the capacity of standard 3/8 inch chuck drills. The 1/2 inch shank allows the bit to seat in a standard 1/2 inch drill chuck while delivering a larger cutting diameter. This bit is suited for metal fabrication, HVAC sheet metal work, plumbing rough-in, and general industrial drilling where large-diameter holes are required in steel, aluminum, or similar materials.
This drill bit is used in residential and commercial trade applications where holes larger than standard jobber bits can produce are needed. Common scenarios include drilling through structural steel, angle iron, electrical enclosures, and sheet metal panels. Licensed trades including HVAC technicians, electricians, and plumbers reach for Silver and Deming bits when routing pipe or conduit through metal framing or when enlarging existing holes to final diameter.
Designed as a general-purpose Silver and Deming replacement bit compatible with any 1/2 inch keyed or keyless drill chuck. Suitable for use with corded drill presses and heavy-duty hand drills accepting a 1/2 inch shank.
This bit is installed and operated by machinists, tool and die techs, and licensed trade professionals working with metal substrates. Secure the 1/2 inch shank firmly in the chuck before operation and confirm the chuck is fully tightened. Use cutting fluid or a suitable metal-cutting lubricant when drilling ferrous metals to extend bit life and reduce heat. Never force feed through hardened materials — reduce feed pressure and allow the flutes to clear chips.
