The DYNABRADE 79108 is a ceramic-coated abrasive belt designed for use with narrow-belt file sanders and finishing tools common in metal fabrication, weld blending, and deburring applications. Measuring 0.5 inches wide by 12 inches long, this belt uses a medium-grade, 60-grit ceramic abrasive grain bonded to a heavy-duty polyester cloth backing rated at Y-weight. Ceramic grain self-sharpens under pressure, extending belt life and maintaining consistent cut rates on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The belt supports both wet and dry operation, giving technicians flexibility depending on workpiece material and surface finish requirements.
This belt is suited for portable file belt sanders used in precision material removal, contour grinding, and surface conditioning on metal components. Typical applications include pipe and tube finishing, weld seam blending, and tight-radius work where wider belts cannot reach. The 0.5-inch width allows access to narrow grooves, slots, and inside contours. It is commonly used by fabricators, pipefitters, and maintenance technicians working on structural steel, stainless, and aluminum workpieces requiring controlled stock removal at a medium grit level.
Designed as a replacement-style abrasive belt for narrow-belt file sanders and die grinder-style belt attachments accepting 0.5 x 12 inch belts.
Installation is performed by qualified trades or machine operators familiar with abrasive tooling. Before changing belts, disconnect the tool from its power source or air supply and allow all moving parts to come to a complete stop. Inspect the tool platen and tracking guides for wear before seating the new belt, and confirm belt direction arrows align with the tool rotation direction where marked. Follow the tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable ANSI abrasive safety standards for operating speeds and guard requirements.
