The DYNABRADE 58414 is a pneumatic palm-style random orbital sander built for high-production surface finishing work. It accepts an 8-inch round sanding pad and runs at up to 10,000 orbits per minute (OPM) with a 0.45 horsepower air motor. The orbit diameter is 0.1875 inches (approximately 5 mm), delivering a fine, swirl-free finish suitable for prep and final-coat work. Air consumption is 23 CFM at 90 psi operating pressure, supplied through a 1/4-inch NPT inlet. A vacuum port allows connection to a dust extraction system. The tool ships with a premium urethane weight-mated sanding pad. Licensed HVAC, auto-body, and industrial finishing technicians rely on this class of tool for consistent material removal without hand fatigue.
The 58414 is suited for residential and commercial surface prep applications including paint removal, blending, and finish sanding on flat and moderately contoured panels. The 8-inch pad size makes it efficient on large flat surfaces such as hood panels, wall substrates, and composite materials. Vacuum compatibility supports dust-controlled work environments. The palm grip design reduces operator fatigue during extended use compared to straight-body or pistol-grip sanders. A minimum hose inside diameter of 0.375 inches is required to maintain proper airflow and sustain rated OPM under load.
Designed as an OEM-style pneumatic sander accepting standard 8-inch hook-and-loop or PSA round sanding discs compatible with backing pads of the same diameter and orbit specification.
Installation and operation of pneumatic tools should be performed by technicians familiar with compressed-air systems and applicable shop safety standards. Confirm the supply line delivers at least 90 psi and the hose inside diameter meets the 0.375-inch minimum before connecting. Always depressurize the air line and disconnect the inlet fitting before changing pads or performing any maintenance. Do not exceed the rated operating pressure, as overpressure will increase free speed beyond the tool rating and create a safety hazard.
