The DYNABRADE 58405 is a pneumatic palm-style random orbital sander built for surface finishing work in production and fabrication environments. It accepts a 6-inch round sanding pad and runs at 12,000 OPM, making it effective for material removal and fine finishing on large flat panels. The tool draws 23 CFM at 90 psig through a 1/4 NPT inlet and delivers 0.45 HP. The random orbital action with a 0.1875-inch (5 mm) orbit diameter reduces swirl marks compared to straight-line or gear-driven sanders. A premium urethane weight-mated sanding pad is included. This sander is designed for use by automotive body technicians, metal fabricators, woodworkers, and industrial finishing professionals.
The 58405 is suited for production-level surface preparation, paint finishing, and wood sanding where consistent scratch patterns and ergonomic handling matter. The palm grip design keeps the tool low-profile and controllable over broad surface areas. It is well-matched to applications requiring repeatable finishes on flat or gently contoured workpieces in both shop and manufacturing settings. A minimum hose size of 0.38 inches is required to maintain adequate air flow at the tool.

Connect the tool to a clean, dry compressed air supply using the 1/4 NPT inlet and a hose no smaller than 0.38 inches in diameter. Verify the air supply is regulated to 90 psig before operation. Always shut off and bleed the air line before attaching or removing the sanding pad or accessories. Inspect the backing pad for wear or damage before each use, as a compromised pad can affect finish quality and operator control.
