The DYNABRADE 58401 is a pneumatic palm-style random orbital sander built for surface finishing applications in automotive, industrial, and fabrication environments. It runs at 12,000 orbits per minute (OPM) and draws 23 CFM at 90 psig operating pressure through a 1/4 NPT inlet. The 0.45 HP air motor drives a 5-inch round sanding backing pad with a 0.1875-inch (5 mm) orbit diameter, producing a fine, swirl-minimized finish. At 2.5 pounds, the tool is light enough for extended overhead and vertical work. A built-in vacuum port allows connection to a dust extraction system, keeping work surfaces and air cleaner during operation. Licensed HVAC, auto body, and industrial finishing technicians will find this tool well-suited to high-production sanding tasks.
The 58401 is designed for use in professional body shops, metal fabrication facilities, and industrial finishing lines where consistent orbital action and dust management are required. The 5-inch round pad accepts standard hook-and-loop or PSA abrasive discs common to automotive and industrial finishing workflows. The vacuum-ready design makes it compatible with central vacuum systems or portable dust extractors. A minimum hose size of 0.38 inches is required to maintain adequate airflow and tool performance at the rated 90 psig supply pressure.
Designed as an OEM-style pneumatic random orbital sander compatible with standard 5-inch round sanding backing pads and dust extraction systems using common vacuum hose fittings.
Installation and operation should be performed by a qualified technician familiar with pneumatic tool systems. Before connecting to an air supply, verify the supply line is at the correct operating pressure of 90 psig and that the minimum hose diameter of 0.38 inches is met to avoid pressure drop and reduced tool performance. Disconnect the air supply before changing abrasive discs or inspecting the backing pad. Follow applicable OSHA and shop safety guidelines for respiratory protection when operating without a dust extraction system connected.
