The DYNABRADE 48317 is a right-angle air die grinder designed for precision grinding, deburring, and surface finishing in demanding shop and field environments. Powered by compressed air at 90 psi and 26 CFM, it delivers up to 20,000 RPM through a 6 mm collet, making it well-suited for tight-clearance work where inline tools cannot reach. The lever-style throttle provides controlled, repeatable speed. At 1 pound, it reduces fatigue during extended use. Rear exhaust keeps airflow directed away from the work surface. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, metalworkers, and fabricators are the primary installers and operators of this tool.
The 48317 is used in metal fabrication shops, automotive repair facilities, aerospace component finishing, and general industrial maintenance. The right-angle head geometry allows access to recessed cavities, weld joints, and confined areas where a straight die grinder would be impractical. It accepts standard 1/4-inch shank tooling through its 6 mm collet and connects to a shop air supply via a 1/4 NPT inlet. It is suited for both production line use and intermittent service work.
Designed for use with standard 1/4-inch shank rotary tooling and requires a compressed air supply capable of maintaining 90 psi at 26 CFM through a 1/4 NPT air line connection.
Connection to the air supply should be made by a qualified operator familiar with pneumatic tool safety. Ensure the air line is depressurized before attaching or removing the tool or any collet tooling. Use an inline air filter-regulator-lubricator to maintain consistent pressure and protect internal components. Always verify the collet nut is fully tightened and the mounted accessory is rated for the operating RPM of this tool before applying power.
