It prevents insulation and debris from accumulating near the chimney, unless the chimney is enclosed through the attic. The shield consists of a collar and base. DuraChimney II is a double-wall, air-cooled chimney system for use with masonry fireplaces that burn wood, oil, coal, or gas.
