The DURA PLASTIC PVC80U2 is a 2-inch socket-by-socket union fitting manufactured to Schedule 80 PVC pressure standards. It provides a removable, leak-resistant connection point in pressurized piping systems, allowing technicians to disconnect and reconnect sections of pipe without cutting. The Schedule 80 wall thickness gives it greater pressure capacity and impact resistance compared to Schedule 40, making it suitable for demanding liquid handling applications in commercial and industrial environments. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the typical installers for this type of fitting.
This union fitting is used in pressure piping systems handling cold and hot water, chemical feed lines, irrigation headers, and pool or spa circulation plumbing. The socket-by-socket (S x S) end configuration accepts solvent-cemented PVC pipe on both ends. It is well suited for locations where future serviceability is required, such as pump isolation points, filter bypasses, and inline equipment connections in both residential and light commercial systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 PVC pressure piping systems using 2-inch nominal pipe size with solvent-cement socket connections.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters following IPC and local plumbing code requirements. Depressurize and drain the system completely before disassembling or installing any union fitting. Use the correct PVC Schedule 80 solvent cement and primer on both the pipe end and fitting socket, following manufacturer dry-fit and cure-time instructions before pressurizing. Do not overtighten the union nut by mechanical means, as PVC threads are designed for hand-tight plus minimal wrench adjustment only.
