The DURA PLASTIC PVC80ADSMIP3 is a Schedule 80 PVC male adapter fitting designed to transition from a socket (slip) connection to a male pipe thread (MPT) connection in a 3-inch pipe size. Built from rigid PVC to Schedule 80 wall thickness standards, this fitting handles higher-pressure applications than standard Schedule 40 fittings of the same size. It is used in pressurized water, chemical, and industrial piping systems where a threaded male end is needed to connect to a female-threaded valve, pump port, or equipment fitting. Plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers.
This adapter is suited for residential and commercial plumbing, irrigation, pool and spa circulation systems, and light industrial process piping where PVC Schedule 80 is the specified material. The socket end accepts solvent-welded 3-inch pipe, while the MPT end threads directly into any standard female NPT-threaded fitting, valve, or equipment port of the same size. It is a common solution when transitioning between a plastic pipe run and a threaded mechanical connection point.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for 3-inch Schedule 80 PVC piping systems using solvent-cement socket connections and NPT-threaded mechanical connections.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters in accordance with applicable IPC and local plumbing codes. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before cutting into any existing line. The socket end requires proper PVC primer and solvent cement applied per the cement manufacturer's instructions and ASTM D2564 standards. The MPT threaded end should be wrapped with PTFE thread seal tape or pipe joint compound before threading into the mating female fitting to ensure a leak-free seal.
