The DURA PLASTIC PVC80ADSMIP2 is a Schedule 80 PVC male adapter fitting designed to transition a socket (slip) connection to a male pipe thread (MPT) connection in pressure-rated piping systems. At 2 inches, this adapter accepts a solvent-welded pipe on the socket end and threads directly into a female-threaded fitting or valve on the MPT end. Schedule 80 PVC wall thickness provides greater pressure ratings and impact resistance compared to Schedule 40, making this fitting suitable for demanding industrial, commercial, and mechanical applications. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting where a cemented PVC run must terminate into a threaded connection point.
This adapter is used in cold and hot water distribution, irrigation systems, chemical processing lines, and pool or spa plumbing where Schedule 80 PVC is specified. The 2-inch size is common in commercial mechanical rooms, pump discharge headers, and filter manifolds. It is appropriate for both above-ground and buried installations where the system design calls for Schedule 80 rated components throughout.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for Schedule 80 PVC piping systems using 2-inch nominal pipe size with socket and female NPT threaded components.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters following applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements. Depressurize and drain the system fully before cutting into any existing line. Use appropriate PVC Schedule 80 solvent cement and primer on the socket end per the cement manufacturer's instructions. Hand-tighten the MPT end into the female-threaded fitting first, then apply thread sealant tape or compound before final tightening to avoid over-torquing the threaded joint.
