The DURA PLASTIC PVC80ADSFIP1 is a PVC Schedule 80 adapter fitting designed to transition between a socket (spear) end and a female iron pipe thread (IPT) connection. Schedule 80 PVC offers greater wall thickness and pressure ratings than Schedule 40, making this adapter suitable for industrial, chemical, and irrigation applications where added durability is required. The 1-inch size fits standard 1-inch PVC pipe and female-threaded fittings. Plumbers and pipefitters install this adapter when connecting a solvent-welded PVC run to a threaded port or valve body.
This adapter is used in residential and commercial plumbing systems, industrial process piping, irrigation distribution lines, and pool or spa plumbing where a threaded-to-socket transition is needed. The socket end accepts 1-inch PVC pipe via solvent cement, while the female threaded end connects to a male-threaded nipple, valve, or equipment port. Its Schedule 80 construction makes it appropriate for higher-pressure service lines and corrosive fluid handling compared to standard Schedule 40 fittings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard fitting for 1-inch Schedule 80 PVC piping systems requiring a socket-to-female-thread transition.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before beginning work. Apply the appropriate PVC primer and solvent cement to the socket end per manufacturer instructions and allow the joint to cure fully before restoring flow. Thread connections should be made hand-tight and then wrench-tightened with PTFE thread tape or pipe thread compound; do not overtighten PVC threaded fittings, as the material is susceptible to cracking under excess torque.
