The DURA PLASTIC PVC40PLMIP112 is a Schedule 40 PVC male threaded plug sized at 1-1/2 inches. It is designed to close off the end of a female-threaded pipe fitting or port, stopping flow completely in a pressurized or non-pressurized system. The plug is molded from rigid PVC, making it resistant to corrosion, common chemicals, and scale buildup. Plumbers and pipefitters use this type of plug to cap unused branch connections, terminate test lines, or isolate sections of a piping system during service. It threads directly into any standard 1-1/2-inch NPT female fitting.
This plug is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, irrigation, pool and spa piping, and industrial water-handling systems where PVC Schedule 40 pipe is specified. It is commonly installed when capping stub-outs, sealing unused tee or cross ports, and pressure-testing sections of a PVC distribution line. Its tapered male NPT thread ensures a secure, leak-resistant fit when applied with the appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape.
Designed as an OEM-style fitting for use with Schedule 40 PVC piping systems using standard 1-1/2-inch NPT female-threaded connections.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters. Shut off and depressurize the line before installing or removing any threaded plug. Apply PTFE tape or a PVC-compatible thread sealant to the male threads before engagement — do not overtighten, as PVC threads can crack under excessive torque. Work must comply with local plumbing codes and applicable sections of the International Plumbing Code (IPC) where enforced.
