The DURA PLASTIC PVC40BUSHSPS64 is a Schedule 40 PVC pressure bushing configured with a 6-inch spigot inlet and a 4-inch slip outlet. This fitting is used to reduce pipe diameter within a pressurized PVC piping system, allowing a 6-inch line to transition down to a 4-inch line without additional adapters. Constructed from rigid PVC, it meets Schedule 40 pressure ratings suitable for cold water distribution, irrigation, and industrial process piping. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the typical installers for this type of fitting in commercial and residential applications.
This bushing is suited for use in potable water supply lines, irrigation mainlines, pool and spa plumbing, and general industrial fluid handling where a spigot-to-slip reduction is required. The spigot end inserts directly into a 6-inch Schedule 40 socket fitting, while the slip end accepts a 4-inch Schedule 40 pipe. This makes it a practical transition fitting for new construction and retrofit projects requiring a step-down in pipe size.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for Schedule 40 PVC pressure piping systems using standard spigot and slip socket connections.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters following applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before cutting into any existing line. Apply a compatible PVC primer and Schedule 40-rated solvent cement to both the spigot and socket surfaces before joining, and allow full cure time before restoring pressure. Do not use this fitting on systems carrying compressed air, gas, or fluids outside the rated temperature and pressure range for Schedule 40 PVC.
