The DURA PLASTIC PVC40BUSHSPS43 is a PVC Schedule 40 reducing bushing designed for pressure piping systems. It features a 4-inch spigot inlet and a 3-inch slip outlet, allowing installers to reduce pipe size within a run without adding extra fittings. Fabricated from Schedule 40 PVC, this bushing handles the pressure and chemical-resistance demands typical of residential and light commercial water distribution, irrigation, and industrial process lines. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting as part of standard solvent-weld PVC assemblies.
This bushing is suited for pressure applications where a 4-inch spigot connection must transition down to a 3-inch slip socket. Common install scenarios include municipal water service laterals, pool and spa plumbing, irrigation mainlines, and industrial fluid handling where PVC pressure fittings are specified. The spigot end inserts directly into a 4-inch socket fitting, and the 3-inch slip end accepts a standard 3-inch PVC pipe with solvent cement.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 40 PVC pressure piping systems using solvent-weld connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Depressurize and drain the line completely before cutting into an existing system. Use only Schedule 40-rated PVC primer and solvent cement applied per the cement manufacturer's instructions, and allow full cure time before restoring pressure. Do not use this fitting in systems that exceed the pressure-temperature ratings for Schedule 40 PVC.
