The DURA PLASTIC PVC40BUSHSPS42 is a Schedule 40 PVC reducing bushing with a 4-inch spigot inlet and a 2-inch slip outlet. It reduces a larger pipe run down to a smaller branch or fitting without requiring an additional coupling. The spigot end inserts directly into a socket-end fitting of the same diameter, while the slip end accepts a standard 2-inch socket fitting or pipe. This bushing is designed for cold and hot water distribution, irrigation, and general-purpose PVC pressure piping systems. Plumbers and pipefitters install it as part of a solvent-weld assembly wherever a line reduction is needed in a Schedule 40 run.
This reducing bushing is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, pool and spa circulation piping, and irrigation manifolds where a 4-inch line must step down to a 2-inch branch. The spigot-by-slip configuration makes it compatible with standard Schedule 40 socket fittings on both ends, keeping the transition compact and eliminating the need for a separate coupling on the large side.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit component for Schedule 40 PVC piping systems using 4-inch socket fittings on the inlet side and 2-inch pipe or fittings on the outlet side.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter using standard PVC primer and solvent cement per the fitting and adhesive manufacturer instructions. Shut off and depressurize the water supply completely before cutting into any existing line. Follow applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements for solvent-weld joints, including proper cure time before pressurizing the system. Do not apply heat or use this fitting with threaded connections without the correct adapter fittings.
