The DURA PLASTIC PVC40BUSHSPFIP234 is a Schedule 40 PVC reducing bushing used to transition from a 2 inch spigot connection to a 3/4 inch female iron pipe thread (FIPT) connection in pressurized water systems. This fitting inserts directly into a socket-end fitting, allowing a smaller threaded branch or valve to be connected without adding a separate adapter. It is a standard component in residential and light commercial plumbing, irrigation, and pool and spa piping systems. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting as part of PVC pressure systems where reducing transitions are required at valves, manifolds, or equipment inlets.
This bushing is suited for cold and warm water pressure applications including potable water distribution, irrigation mainlines, and pool equipment plumbing. The spigot end slips into any standard 2 inch Schedule 40 or Schedule 80 socket fitting, while the FIPT end accepts a 3/4 inch male-threaded fitting, valve, or component. It is commonly used at pump inlets, filter manifolds, and system shutoff points where reducing transitions between pipe sizes are needed.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use fitting compatible with 2 inch Schedule 40 PVC socket fittings and 3/4 inch male NPT threaded components in residential and commercial pressure piping systems.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters in accordance with local plumbing codes and ASTM D2466 standards for Schedule 40 PVC pressure fittings. Depressurize and drain the system completely before cutting into existing lines or disassembling fittings. The spigot end is solvent-welded using PVC primer and cement following manufacturer application instructions. Apply PTFE tape or thread sealant to the male threads before engaging the FIPT connection, and tighten by hand plus a quarter turn — avoid overtightening, which can crack PVC threads.
