The DURA PLASTIC PVC40BUSHSPFIP21 is a Schedule 40 PVC reducing bushing designed for pressure piping systems. It features a 2 inch spigot inlet and a 1 inch female iron pipe thread (FIPT) outlet, allowing a reduction in line size within a standard threaded fitting connection. This bushing is built to Schedule 40 dimensional standards, making it suitable for cold and hot water distribution, irrigation, and general industrial plumbing applications. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting wherever a pipe run must step down from a 2 inch nominal line to a 1 inch threaded connection without additional adapters.
This bushing is commonly used in residential and light commercial plumbing, pool and spa plumbing, irrigation manifolds, and process water systems. The spigot end slips into a standard 2 inch socket fitting, while the FIPT outlet accepts a 1 inch male-threaded pipe or fitting. It is well suited for above-ground and in-wall installations where a compact, direct reduction is needed between pipe segments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard component for Schedule 40 PVC pressure piping systems using 2 inch socket fittings and 1 inch NPT threaded connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC requirements. Shut off and depressurize the water supply before making any connections. Solvent-weld the spigot end into the mating socket using approved PVC primer and cement, following the cement manufacturer's cure time before pressurizing. Apply thread sealant tape or compound to the male threads that engage the FIPT outlet.
