The DURA PLASTIC PVC40BUSHMIPFIP134 is a Schedule 40 PVC reducing bushing with a 1-inch male pipe thread (MPT) on the outside and a 3/4-inch female pipe thread (FPT) on the inside. It is used to reduce a larger threaded fitting down to a smaller diameter line in pressurized piping systems. This type of bushing is a standard component in water distribution, irrigation, pool and spa plumbing, and general liquid-handling systems. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting wherever a threaded size reduction is needed without adding a full coupling or union to the assembly.
This bushing is suited for residential and light commercial applications where Schedule 40 PVC pipe and fittings are specified. Common install scenarios include pool equipment pads, irrigation manifolds, water supply lines, and chemical-handling systems where PVC is acceptable. The 1-inch MXF to 3/4-inch FPT configuration handles a common size transition found throughout residential and commercial plumbing layouts.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 40 PVC threaded piping systems using standard NPT thread patterns.
A licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter should verify local code requirements before installing threaded PVC fittings in pressurized water systems. Apply PTFE thread tape or an approved thread sealant to the male threads before assembly. Hand-tighten first, then use strap wrenches to finish seating the joint — avoid pipe wrenches that can crack PVC. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before removing or installing any threaded fitting.
