The DURA PLASTIC PVC40ADSMIP4 is a Schedule 40 PVC male adapter fitting designed to transition between a male iron pipe thread (MIPT) connection and a slip socket connection in pressure-rated piping systems. At 4 inches, this fitting handles substantial flow in main distribution lines, service runs, and system headers. It is manufactured from rigid PVC, making it resistant to corrosion, chemical attack, and scale buildup common in water and irrigation service. Plumbers, irrigation contractors, and pool and spa technicians install this fitting as part of solvent-welded PVC pressure systems where a threaded-to-slip transition is required.
This adapter is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, pool and spa circulation systems, irrigation mains, and industrial water distribution where Schedule 40 PVC pressure fittings are specified. The 4-inch MIPT end threads onto a female-threaded valve, pump port, or equipment fitting, while the slip end accepts a 4-inch PVC pipe for solvent welding. It is a standard configuration for connecting threaded equipment ports to solvent-welded PVC pipe runs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use fitting for Schedule 40 PVC pressure piping systems using 4-inch pipe and fittings per ASTM D2466 or D2467 dimensional standards.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified irrigation and pool technicians. Shut off system pressure and drain the line before making any connections. The MIPT end requires thread sealant tape or thread compound rated for PVC and water service — do not overtighten, as PVC threads can crack under excessive torque. The slip end must be solvent welded using PVC primer and solvent cement appropriate for Schedule 40 fittings, following manufacturer instructions and applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC or local authority having jurisdiction.
