The DURA PLASTIC PVC40ADSMIP3 is a Schedule 40 PVC male adapter fitting designed to transition between a 3-inch male iron pipe thread (MIPT) connection and a 3-inch slip socket connection. This fitting is used in pressure piping systems where a threaded pipe or valve needs to connect to a solvent-weld PVC line. It is rated for pressure service under Schedule 40 standards, making it suitable for water distribution, irrigation, and similar fluid-handling applications. Licensed plumbers and pipe fitters install this type of adapter as part of above-ground and below-ground PVC pressure systems.
This male adapter is appropriate for residential and commercial plumbing, irrigation mainlines, pool and spa plumbing, and industrial water systems where Schedule 40 PVC is the specified pipe material. The MIPT end threads onto a female-threaded fitting, valve, or pump port, while the slip end accepts standard 3-inch Schedule 40 PVC pipe via solvent cement. It is commonly installed at equipment connections such as filter heads, pump inlets, and valve manifolds.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard component for Schedule 40 PVC pressure piping systems using 3-inch nominal pipe size with NPT-threaded connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipe fitter in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before making any connections. Apply PTFE thread tape or thread sealant to the MIPT threads before engagement, and use solvent primer and cement rated for PVC pressure service on the slip socket end. Do not over-torque the threaded connection, as PVC threads can crack under excessive force.
