The DURA PLASTIC PVC40ADSMIP212 is a Schedule 40 PVC male adapter fitting designed to transition between a male iron pipe thread (MIPT) connection and a slip socket connection in pressure piping systems. At 2.5 inches, this adapter is sized for medium to larger-diameter runs common in commercial and industrial plumbing, pool and spa circulation systems, and irrigation. The Schedule 40 wall thickness provides the pressure rating and mechanical strength expected in standard service applications. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting where a threaded pipe or valve inlet must connect to a solvent-weld PVC line.
This fitting is appropriate for cold and ambient-temperature water service in residential and commercial installations. Typical uses include connecting threaded pump inlets, filter heads, valves, and manifolds to solvent-weld PVC mainlines. It is commonly specified in pool and spa equipment rooms, irrigation mains, and general plumbing distribution where PVC pressure fittings are code-accepted. The slip socket end accepts standard 2.5-inch PVC pipe for solvent cement joining.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 2.5-inch Schedule 40 PVC pressure piping systems using MIPT threaded connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with local plumbing codes and ASTM D2466 standards for PVC fittings. Shut off system pressure and drain the line before disassembly or fitting installation. The slip end requires appropriate PVC primer and solvent cement applied per the cement manufacturer instructions. Apply thread sealant tape or compound to the MIPT threads before making up the threaded connection — do not overtighten, as PVC threads can crack under excessive torque.
