The DURA PLASTIC PVC40ADSMIP2 is a Schedule 40 PVC male adapter fitting designed to transition between a 2-inch male iron pipe thread (MIPT) connection and a 2-inch slip socket. It bridges threaded pipe connections to solvent-weld PVC systems, making it a common component in pressure piping assemblies. The Schedule 40 wall thickness rating suits standard residential and light commercial pressure applications. Plumbers and pipefitters install this adapter wherever a threaded metal or PVC male end must connect to a solvent-welded PVC pipeline.
This fitting is used in water supply, irrigation, pool and spa plumbing, and general industrial piping where PVC Schedule 40 pressure fittings are specified. The MIPT end threads onto a female-threaded valve, pump port, filter housing, or pipe fitting, while the slip end accepts a 2-inch PVC pipe solvent-welded in place. It is well suited for both above-ground and in-ground installations where PVC pressure service is appropriate.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for 2-inch Schedule 40 PVC pressure piping systems using MIPT-to-slip connections.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before beginning work. Apply an approved PVC primer and solvent cement to the slip end per the cement manufacturer instructions and applicable plumbing code requirements such as the IPC. Use appropriate thread sealant tape or compound on the MIPT end when threading into a female connection; do not overtighten threaded joints, as PVC threads can crack under excess torque.
