The DURA PLASTIC L14645Y is a Schedule 40 PVC reducing tee designed for use in pressure piping systems where a branch connection of a different diameter is required. The fitting features a 1 inch by 1 inch by 3/4 inch nominal configuration with socket ends on the run and a female NPT (FNPT) end on the branch outlet. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting in residential and light commercial water distribution, irrigation, and industrial process piping. The SCH 40 wall thickness rating makes it suitable for standard working pressure applications. The domestic manufacture designation indicates this fitting meets domestic-sourcing requirements common in public works and government-funded projects.
This reducing tee is suited for cold and ambient-temperature water supply lines, irrigation manifolds, and general-purpose PVC pressure systems. The two socket ends allow solvent-cement connections on the main run, while the 3/4 inch FNPT branch port accepts threaded fittings, valves, or gauges without additional adapters. It is commonly used where a reduced-size branch tap is needed off a 1 inch main line.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 40 PVC pressure piping systems using 1 inch nominal main line pipe and 3/4 inch nominal branch connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the water supply before cutting into any existing line. Socket ends require proper PVC primer and solvent cement applied per the cement manufacturer instructions and ASTM D2564 guidelines. The FNPT branch port requires compatible threaded fittings with thread sealant tape or compound — do not overtighten threaded connections into PVC female threads.
