The DURA PLASTIC 839-210 is a Schedule 80 PVC reducing bushing designed to transition between a 1-1/2 inch male NPT (MNPT) connection and a 3/4 inch female NPT (FNPT) connection. This bushing threads directly into a larger fitting or valve body, allowing a smaller-diameter pipe or fitting to connect within the same run. Schedule 80 PVC wall thickness provides higher pressure ratings and greater impact resistance compared to Schedule 40, making it suitable for demanding fluid-handling applications. Plumbers and pipe fitters install this fitting in both above-ground and in-wall piping systems where a threaded pipe size reduction is needed without additional fittings.
This reducing bushing is used in residential and commercial plumbing, irrigation, chemical transfer, and pool or spa piping systems where PVC Schedule 80 threaded components are specified. It is a domestically sourced fitting, appropriate for systems that require compliant, pressure-rated PVC components. Typical applications include reducing branch connections, adapting valve ports, and stepping down supply lines within a threaded PVC assembly.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 PVC threaded piping systems using standard NPT thread patterns.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipe fitters working with threaded PVC systems. Shut off and depressurize the affected piping system completely before installing or removing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly, and tighten with strap wrenches rather than metal pipe wrenches to avoid cracking the PVC body. Follow applicable IPC and local plumbing code requirements for pressure ratings and approved materials in the intended service environment.
