The DURA PLASTIC 838-168 is a Schedule 80 PVC reducer bushing used to transition between a 1-1/4 inch nominal pipe and a 1 inch nominal female threaded connection. The spigot inlet slips into a socket fitting or socket-end valve, while the FNPT outlet accepts a male-threaded pipe or fitting. Built from Schedule 80 PVC, this bushing delivers greater wall thickness and pressure tolerance than Schedule 40 equivalents. It is used by plumbers and pipe fitters in industrial, commercial, and institutional piping systems where a compact threaded reduction is needed without adding a union or nipple.
This bushing suits pressure piping systems handling water, mild chemicals, and other fluids compatible with PVC. The Spigot x FNPT end configuration makes it well suited for installations that require a reduction at a threaded port, such as pump housings, filter manifolds, valve assemblies, and chemical feed systems. Domestic manufacture supports projects with domestic-content requirements.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation reducer bushing for Schedule 80 PVC piping systems using standard NPT threaded connections.
Schedule 80 PVC fittings are installed by licensed plumbers or pipe fitters following applicable IPC and local plumbing codes. Depressurize and drain the line completely before removing or installing any fitting. Solvent-cement the spigot end into the mating socket using a PVC-rated primer and cement formulated for Schedule 80 applications. Thread connections should be made with PTFE tape or approved thread sealant and tightened by hand plus one to two turns with a strap wrench — do not use metal pipe wrenches directly on PVC threaded fittings.
