The DURA PLASTIC 837-292 is a Schedule 80 PVC reducer fitting designed to transition between a 2.5-inch nominal pipe and a 2-inch nominal pipe. It features a spigot end on the larger side and a socket end on the smaller side, allowing it to integrate into existing SCH 80 PVC piping systems. The heavy-wall Schedule 80 construction provides greater pressure tolerance and mechanical strength compared to Schedule 40 fittings. This fitting is domestically produced and suited for use in plumbing, industrial fluid handling, chemical processing, and irrigation systems where PVC is an approved material.
This reducer is appropriate for both residential and commercial applications where a pipe diameter reduction is required in a pressure-rated PVC system. The spigot x socket end style makes it compatible with standard solvent-cement joining methods. Typical installation scenarios include pump discharge lines, filter manifolds, and process piping where flow transitions between two pipe sizes. It is intended for use by licensed plumbers and pipefitters working on PVC pressure systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-install fitting for Schedule 80 PVC piping systems using 2.5 inch and 2 inch nominal pipe sizes joined by solvent cement.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable codes such as the IPC. Depressurize and drain the line completely before cutting into an existing system. Use a primer and solvent cement rated for Schedule 80 PVC fittings, and allow full cure time before returning the system to service. Do not use this fitting with threaded connections or compression-style fittings without appropriate adapters.
