The DURA PLASTIC 836-102 is a Schedule 80 PVC reducer bushing designed for threaded and solvent-weld piping systems. It transitions from a 1-inch socket end to a 3/4-inch male NPT thread, allowing installers to reduce pipe size within a run or at a fitting connection. Schedule 80 wall thickness provides extra pressure capacity compared to Schedule 40, making it suitable for higher-demand plumbing and industrial fluid-handling applications. The PVC construction resists corrosion and common chemical exposure. Plumbers and pipefitters install this bushing as a standard component in pressure piping assemblies.
This reducer bushing is used in residential and commercial plumbing, irrigation systems, pool and spa plumbing, and light industrial process piping where PVC Schedule 80 is specified. The MNPT x socket configuration allows the bushing to thread directly into a female NPT fitting on one end while accepting a solvent-welded pipe on the socket end. It is a domestically produced fitting suited for above-ground and buried installations where PVC is permitted by local code.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 80 PVC piping systems using standard NPT thread and solvent-weld socket connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or local plumbing codes. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before making any connections. Apply thread sealant tape or compound to the male NPT threads before assembly, and use the appropriate PVC solvent cement on the socket end following manufacturer cure time guidelines. Do not over-torque threaded connections, as PVC fittings can crack under excessive force.
