The DURA PLASTIC 438-420 is a flush reducing bushing designed to transition pipe sizes within a plumbing or fluid-handling system. It connects a 4-inch spigot inlet to a 2-inch female NPT (FNPT) outlet, allowing a pipe or fitting to step down in diameter without requiring additional adapters. Constructed from Schedule 40 PVC, this bushing is suited for pressure-rated cold and hot water systems, chemical drainage lines, and industrial piping applications. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting wherever a direct size reduction is needed in a threaded or solvent-welded PVC system.
This bushing is used in residential and commercial plumbing systems, irrigation lines, pool and spa plumbing, and industrial fluid distribution where a 4-inch to 2-inch reduction is required. The spigot end inserts directly into a 4-inch socket fitting and is solvent-cemented in place, while the FNPT end accepts a 2-inch male-threaded pipe or fitting. It is manufactured domestically to Schedule 40 dimensional standards.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 40 PVC piping systems requiring a 4-inch spigot to 2-inch female NPT reduction.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or local plumbing codes. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before cutting into any existing line. The spigot end requires proper PVC primer and solvent cement applied per the cement manufacturer instructions before insertion into the mating socket. Do not over-torque threaded connections on the FNPT end, as PVC threads are susceptible to cracking under excess load.
