The DURA PLASTIC 438-339 is a flush reducing bushing designed for use in Schedule 40 PVC piping systems. It reduces a 3-inch spigot connection down to a 2.5-inch female NPT (FNPT) threaded port, allowing technicians to transition between pipe sizes within the same run without adding a separate coupling. Made from domestic PVC, this bushing suits potable water, irrigation, pool and spa, and general industrial plumbing applications. Licensed plumbers and pipe fitters install this fitting wherever an inline size reduction is needed while keeping the fitting profile flush with the pipe bore.
This bushing is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, irrigation systems, and pool or spa circulation piping. The Schedule 40 wall thickness rating makes it appropriate for standard-pressure service lines. Its spigot-by-FNPT end configuration lets the bushing seat directly into a socket fitting on one end while accepting a male-threaded pipe or fitting on the other, making it a practical choice for transitioning between threaded and solvent-weld systems.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for standard Schedule 40 PVC piping systems requiring a 3-inch to 2.5-inch spigot-by-FNPT reducing connection.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the system completely before cutting into any existing line. The spigot end is solvent-welded into a socket fitting using the appropriate PVC primer and cement for the pipe schedule and service type. Do not apply pipe thread sealant to the spigot end or over-torque the threaded FNPT connection, as PVC threads can crack under excess force.
