The DURA PLASTIC 438-248 is a Schedule 40 PVC flush bushing used to reduce a 2-inch female connection down to a 3/4-inch threaded port. The spigot end slips into a standard socket fitting, while the female NPT (FNPT) end accepts a male-threaded pipe or fitting. Constructed from PVC, this bushing is well-suited for low-pressure water distribution, irrigation, pool and spa plumbing, and general industrial piping systems. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting wherever a concentric, flush-style reduction is needed within a Schedule 40 PVC system.
This bushing is appropriate for residential and light commercial plumbing applications where a compact, inline pipe reduction is required. The flush design keeps the transition tight against the receiving fitting, minimizing overall assembly length. It is commonly installed in irrigation manifolds, pool equipment pad plumbing, and domestic cold-water supply lines where PVC is the specified pipe material.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting compatible with Schedule 40 PVC piping systems using standard NPT threading and solvent-weld socket connections.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters working within systems that meet local plumbing code requirements referencing the IPC or equivalent. Solvent-cement the spigot end into the receiving socket using a PVC primer and cement rated for Schedule 40 fittings, following the cement manufacturer's cure time before pressurizing the system. Thread the FNPT port connection with appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape applied to the male threads. Always depressurize and drain the line before cutting into an existing system.
