The DURA PLASTIC 429-291 is a Schedule 40 standard-wall PVC reducer bushing designed to transition between a 2.5-inch nominal and 1.5-inch nominal pipe or fitting. The socket end style allows it to slip directly into a female socket fitting, making it a straightforward inline reduction for pressure plumbing, irrigation, pool, and industrial piping systems. PVC construction offers corrosion resistance and compatibility with a wide range of fluids. Licensed plumbers and pipe fitters use this bushing when downsizing a run without adding extra couplings or nipples.
This reducer bushing fits residential and light commercial plumbing, pool and spa circulation systems, and irrigation distribution lines where a 2.5-inch to 1.5-inch reduction is needed at a socket fitting connection. The socket end style seats into standard SCH 40 fittings and is solvent-cemented in place per standard PVC joining procedures. Domestic manufacture is noted.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 40 PVC pressure piping systems using 2.5-inch to 1.5-inch socket connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipe fitter in accordance with local plumbing codes and ASTM D2466 standards for PVC fittings. Shut off and depressurize the piping system completely before cutting into any existing line. Clean and dry both mating surfaces, apply the appropriate PVC primer and solvent cement, and allow full cure time before returning the system to service. Do not use this fitting with threaded connections or outside its rated pressure class.
