The DURA PLASTIC 429-249 is a Schedule 40 PVC reducing coupling designed to transition between a 2-inch nominal pipe and a 1-inch nominal pipe within a pressurized or drain plumbing system. The socket end style accepts pipe on both ends using solvent-cement joining, creating a leak-resistant, permanent connection. This fitting is domestically manufactured and suited for use in potable water, irrigation, industrial process piping, and pool or spa plumbing systems. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of coupling when reducing line size between two fixed pipe segments without threading.
This reducing coupling is intended for use in Schedule 40 PVC piping systems operating under standard pressure ratings for that schedule. It is appropriate for residential and light commercial plumbing, pool and spa circulation lines, and irrigation distribution headers wherever a step-down from 2-inch to 1-inch nominal pipe is required. The socket end configuration means both ends are solvent-welded, making it a clean, low-profile inline reducer.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-use fitting for Schedule 40 PVC piping systems with 2-inch to 1-inch nominal pipe transitions joined by solvent cement.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or qualified pipefitters. Before cutting into any live system, shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure completely. Clean and dry both pipe ends, apply PVC primer, then apply solvent cement to both the pipe and socket before joining. Allow full cure time per the cement manufacturer guidelines before restoring pressure to the line.
