The DSC BD7-12 is a sealed lead acid (SLA) rechargeable battery rated at 12 volts and 7 ampere-hours (Ah). SLA batteries use an absorbed glass mat or gel electrolyte construction that eliminates free liquid, making them spill-proof and suitable for use in multiple orientations. The BD7-12 is a maintenance-free standby power source commonly used in security systems, fire alarm panels, and access control equipment. Licensed security and low-voltage technicians are the primary installers, though the battery also appears in UPS units, emergency lighting, and similar backup power applications.
The BD7-12 fits residential and light commercial installations where a compact 12-volt standby battery is required. It is a direct-fit format for panel enclosures that accept a standard 7 Ah SLA cell. Typical applications include burglar alarm control panels, fire alarm control panels, access control power supplies, and emergency exit lighting fixtures that require a sealed, non-spillable backup battery.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement for sealed lead acid backup batteries used in 12-volt security, fire alarm, access control, and emergency lighting systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed low-voltage or alarm technician in accordance with applicable local codes and the panel manufacturer's documentation. Disconnect AC power and allow any capacitors in the control panel to discharge before replacing the battery. Connect the battery leads observing correct polarity — reversed polarity can damage the control panel. Dispose of the spent battery according to local regulations, as lead acid batteries are classified as hazardous waste.
