The DRILL ROD TOOL STEELS 66752 is an O1 oil-hardening tool steel flat stock bar intended for toolmakers, machinists, and die makers who need a reliable pre-cut blank for fabricating punches, dies, gauges, and cutting tools. Manufactured to AISI Type O1 specification, this flat stock measures 0.25 inches thick by 0.25 inches wide by 18 inches long and weighs approximately 0.33 pounds. Thickness tolerance is held to plus or minus 0.001 inches, making this stock suitable for precision layout work before hardening and finishing. O1 steel offers excellent machinability in the annealed state and responds predictably to oil-quench hardening.
This flat stock is suited for job shops, tool rooms, and maintenance departments in light industrial and manufacturing environments. It is a practical choice when a short, accurate blank is needed for a custom punch, form tool, scraper blade, or similar small tooling component. The 18-inch length allows one or more parts to be cut from a single piece depending on finished part length. Typical users are toolmakers and machinists working to print dimensions, as well as prototype shops sourcing small quantities of precision tool steel.
Designed as a standard AISI Type O1 oil-hardening tool steel flat bar suitable for general toolmaking, die work, and precision part fabrication requiring oil-quench hardenable stock in a 0.25-inch by 0.25-inch cross-section.
Cutting, grinding, and machining of tool steel flat stock should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolmaker using appropriate personal protective equipment and machine guards. O1 steel is supplied in the annealed condition; heat treatment including hardening and tempering must be performed by qualified personnel following recognized metallurgical procedures before placing finished parts into service. Deburr all cut edges before handling. Follow applicable shop safety and machine guarding standards when sawing or grinding.
