The DOW CORNING 99179248 is a red RTV silicone joint sealant supplied in a 10.1 oz cartridge, engineered for high-temperature sealing of flanges and gaskets in industrial and HVAC applications. Part of the 736 series, it cures at room temperature and achieves a tack-free surface in 17 minutes, with full cure in 24 hours. The operating temperature range spans -85 degrees F to 500 degrees F, making it suitable for exhaust systems, engine assemblies, and high-heat mechanical joints. It meets 21 CFR 177.2600 and MIL-A-46106 standards. Licensed HVAC technicians, pipefitters, and millwrights are the primary installers.
This sealant is used wherever a flexible, heat-resistant seal is required at metal-to-metal or metal-to-plastic joints. Typical applications include flange faces on HVAC ductwork, exhaust manifold gaskets, pump housings, and pipe connections that see elevated temperatures. The red color aids visual confirmation of sealant placement during assembly. It adheres to both metal and plastic substrates, broadening its use across a wide range of mechanical joint types found in commercial and industrial service environments.
Designed for flange and gasket sealing applications on metal and plastic substrates across HVAC, industrial, and mechanical systems where a high-temperature RTV silicone sealant is specified.
Applied by HVAC technicians, pipefitters, or maintenance mechanics using a standard caulk gun fitted for 10.1 oz cartridges. Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of oil or loose material before application. Allow the full 24-hour cure time before pressurizing or exposing the joint to operating temperatures. Follow applicable site safety procedures and manufacturer cure guidelines before returning the assembly to service.
