The DORMAKABA USA INC. / RCI 95229 is an electric hinge designed to transfer low-voltage power and signal wiring through a door and frame assembly without exposed conduit or surface-mounted wire management. Measuring 4.5 x 4.5 inches, this hinge supports both a 2-wire and a 4-wire conductor configuration, making it suitable for access control applications that require continuous power or data transfer across a swinging door. It is installed in place of a standard butt hinge by licensed electricians or access control technicians working on electrified door hardware projects.
The 95229 is used in commercial and institutional door openings where electrified hardware such as electric strikes, electromagnetic locks, electric latch retraction devices, or door position switches must receive power or signal through the hinge line. The 2 plus 4 wire configuration allows the installer to run separate circuits for power and for low-current signal or monitoring applications within the same hinge unit. Typical installations include office entry doors, server room access points, and secured interior openings in facilities that require auditable access control.
Designed as an OEM-style electrified hinge replacement for commercial swinging door assemblies requiring concealed low-voltage wire transfer through the hinge line.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician or qualified access control technician familiar with low-voltage wiring practices and applicable codes including NFPA 70 (NEC). Disconnect all power to the access control system and any electrified door hardware before beginning work. Verify door and frame prep dimensions match the 4.5 x 4.5 inch hinge template before mortising. Do not exceed the voltage or current ratings of the internal conductors when connecting to the access control panel or power supply.
