The DON-JO MEST102630 is a mortise-type extended lip ANSI strike plate finished in satin stainless steel. It is designed to receive and retain a door latch bolt or latchset within a mortised door frame, providing a secure and properly aligned keeper point for the lock mechanism. Measuring 4.88 inches in length, 2.63 inches in width, and 0.5 inches in height, this strike fits standard ANSI-dimensioned mortise prep cutouts. At 0.2 pounds, it is lightweight without sacrificing structural integrity. Locksmiths, door hardware installers, and finish carpenters are the typical trades working with this component in both new construction and retrofit applications.
This extended lip strike is suited for commercial and residential door openings where a mortise lockset is specified. The extended lip design helps bridge gaps between the door edge and the frame stop, making it a practical choice for frames that have seen wear or where the door-to-frame clearance requires additional coverage. It is sold individually and available in case quantities of five units for job-site stocking.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation strike for doors prepped to ANSI mortise strike specifications with an extended lip cutout.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed locksmith or qualified door hardware installer. Before installation, ensure the door and frame are properly aligned and that the existing mortise pocket matches the strike dimensions. Use appropriate chisels and drill bits to square the mortise pocket if needed, and fasten the strike securely with the correct screw length for the frame material. Verify latch bolt engagement and door swing clearance before returning the door to service.
