The DO IT 95025-288 is a 120-grit abrasive sandcloth roll designed for cleaning and preparing copper pipe and fittings before soldering. The roll measures 1.5 inches wide by 2 yards long, making it a compact, job-site-ready format. It combines a flexible cotton fabric backing with aluminum oxide abrasive for fast, consistent surface preparation. Two layers of special adhesive and water-resistant resin bond the abrasive to the cloth, ensuring the material holds up during wet or flux-contaminated work. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters use this type of roll as a standard step in sweat-soldering copper systems.
This sandcloth roll is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications where copper pipe soldering is required. It is typically used to abrade pipe ends and fitting cups to remove oxidation and surface contamination before flux application. The flexible backing allows it to conform to curved pipe surfaces and wrap cleanly around small-diameter fittings. It is a standard consumable stocked by plumbers working on water supply, hydronic heating, and refrigeration copper lines.
Designed as a general-purpose abrasive prep roll for copper pipe and fittings used in standard plumbing soldering applications.
This product is used by licensed plumbers as part of the copper pipe preparation process prior to soldering. Shut off and drain the water supply before beginning any pipe work. Use the sandcloth to abrade both the pipe end and the fitting cup until surfaces are bright and free of oxidation before applying flux. Follow applicable plumbing codes, including IPC guidelines, for soldered joint preparation and material requirements.
