The DIXON VALVE COUPLING TM8 is a high tensile nylon hose barb mender designed to join or repair sections of flexible hose in fluid transfer and plumbing applications. With a 1.0625-inch barb size and an overall length of 2.3438 inches, this fitting provides a secure mechanical connection without the need for metal hardware. The nylon construction resists corrosion and keeps weight low, making it a practical choice where steel or brass fittings are not required. Plumbers, irrigation technicians, and general maintenance trades install this type of barb mender in low-pressure hose assemblies.
The TM8 hose barb mender is suited for use in residential and light commercial fluid handling systems where flexible hose lines require a mid-line connection or field repair. Typical applications include irrigation lines, water transfer hose assemblies, and general industrial hose runs. The single-piece nylon body is well matched to environments where moisture exposure would corrode metal alternatives. This fitting accepts standard 1-inch ID hose on both ends and does not require specialized installation tooling beyond a hose clamp and basic hand tools.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or field repair fitting for standard 1-inch ID flexible hose assemblies in irrigation, water transfer, and light-duty fluid handling systems.
Installation is performed by plumbers, irrigation technicians, or qualified maintenance personnel. Depressurize and drain the hose line completely before removing any existing fitting or cutting the hose. Slide hose clamps onto each hose end before inserting the barb, then seat the barb fully and position clamps over the barbed section before tightening. Follow applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements for hose clamp selection and maximum working pressure ratings for nylon fittings in the intended service.
